Kayla reached out to me last summer about using my company for her fall wedding hair and makeup needs. We quickly set up a trial because she was one who was nervous about hiring someone since she is a person of color. It frustrates me to no end that POC have PTSD, almost, with people doing their makeup, but I try to reassure them that I have training in all skintones. And if they don't like something to please speak up so that I can learn from it. Kayla wanted her makeup to be bronzey but more on the natural side and below is a list of products in case anyone is curious about that kind of thing.
Products used:
Mac strobe cream mixed with CeraVe moisturizer, she had combo skin so I used mattifying products in the center instead of the strobe cream, Nars radiant longwear foundation in Ignacio and Namibia custom mixed, Elf hydrating camo concealer in Tan Walnut, Laura Mercier Medium Dark setting powder, Benefit Toasted bronzer, Morphe pink blush from the warm palette, minimal highlight, ColourPop Black n Brown brow pencil, ColourPop Bare Necessities palette on the eyes (glowy, natural, bronzey), KVD super pomade in Graphite for the liner, Essence mascara, Ardell 421 lashes, and ColourPop CTRL lip liner topped with Morphe cream lipstick in Hey Sugar
After our trial run, Kayla followed up with me to let me know if she wanted to adjust or tweak anything. She did say she wanted a lighter base - not necessarily to change her skintone, but to make it brighter in the whole center of the face. She also wanted a warmer and not pink blush, softer definition instead of any harsh lines, and then she was still deciding on whether the darkness of lip color was her preference or not. I think she ended up keeping the lip color the same.
For hair, I curled it with flat iron as she wanted it all in a low bun, she wanted to have movement in crown, and then I used a hair donut to give that bun some girth, hahaha, and used elastics to secure her shorter hair around that donut.
Here are a couple of wedding day pictures I took of hair and/or makeup that I wanted to show off. And then below that are some wedding photos from the photographer that Kayla has given me permission to share. Wishing Kayla and Zach nothing but all the love, happiness, and fun in their next chapter of life!!
