Brooklyn + Trevor

Brooklyn is one of the good gals and if you know even just a little bit about her, aside from being a stellar mom, she's a fabulous calligrapher in the area. I've worked with her on a couple of jobs in the past and when I found out she got engaged, I reached out to her asking to be her hair and makeup artist for the big day.

She and Trevor decided to make this special day about them and their son, Sage, and didn't want anything too over the top as far as bringing them any unwanted stress their way. So they said their vows at home in front of their close family and friends and it was a magical day. I loved being a small part of that day and got to know a little bit about the girls in the party and they're all great gals!

One thing that Brooklyn told me before signing a contract with me is that I had to be comfortable applying her signature smoky eyes and winged eyeliner. I probably would have been hesitant if this were 3 years ago, but wings are no biggie now-a-days. The trick is a steady hand, a cream-to-matte eye liner (can't use liquid and still be sanitary from client to client), and a thin angled liner brush. I got you, girl!

These are the products I used to achieve her look if you're curious. And I curled her hair using a standard size curling wand with some teasing and hairspray. I also used a little bit of braid cream to make sure the braids would stay sleek after I started to pull them apart, making them seem fuller.

Temptu s/b airbrush foundation no4&6 mixed, ColourPop no filter concealer in Light 16 and Medium 22 mixed, RCMA no color powder to set, Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer palette, Mac Peaches blush and Soft & Gentle highlight, ColourPop brow pencil in Soft Black, ColourPop You Had Me At Hello eye shadow palette on the eyes plus a black Urban Decay shadow because she wanted it real smoky, Inglot #77 black gel liner with her signature wing, mascara, Kiss Flirty lashes, and ColourPop satin lippie in Magic Wand.

And even though the wedding was at the end of March, the photographer, Jannah, already has the images available! She posted them in a blog post and I got the green light to snag a few to post in my portfolio.
