I'm now an AMUA graduate!
As you probably know, I've been a self-taught makeup artist for quite some time now. I decided at the end of last year that I was going to attend the Academy of Makeup Arts in Nashville, TN for the freelance program.
They offer three programs: Freelance (weekend course Jan-Mar), Advanced (weekday course Jan-Mar), and Special Effects (weekday course Jan-May). Due to my 9-5 desk job that I still have, there was no way I could do the Advanced course so I signed up for the Freelance course. Signing up for class wasn't something I needed to advance my artistry, per say, but it was more about getting an understanding about basics, sanitation, the business aspect of it, etc.
Each week we learned about different eras in makeup and in the end, our final was a photoshoot with models. We had to do a "no-makeup makeup" look, freestyle look, soft glam look, and your choice of era look.
Below is my no-makeup makeup on Wynnen.
This is my freestyle makeup on Ashley.
This is my soft glam look on LaTosha.
And this is my modern-flapper look on Annie.
Which one is your favorite? Have you thought about signing up for courses like these to further your career? I'm so glad I did and now have a certification for the hours I put into it.
